With KidSwim's uniquely designed and comprehensive format, we take your children from any apprehensive, fearful, regressive or inexperienced stage and transform them into confident, enthusiastic water lovers with excellent skills and a clear understanding of what water safety is.

We give your children undivided one-on-one attention and top notch instruction along with games, toys and positive reinforcement. We are committed to making the experience of learning to swim a joy, not a chore, and one where parents see their children entering the water excited to learn.

Background

KidSwim instructors have been teaching private swim lessons in Los Angeles for eleven years now.  KidSwim’s philosophy is to apply a developmental approach to the teaching of swimming skills.  We are mindful of each child’s age and developmental stage as well as their personality and character.  We find that for long term sustainability, children stay interested in something that is challenging but attainable, with consistent recognition of improvement and the rewards of verbal praise.  We even apply the developmental approach to our infant swim classes, involving the parents in the process.

The company, founded in 2001 by, Lisa Cook has grown over the years to more than 300 families throughout Southern California and as many as twenty instructors during the peak season.  Back in its initial years, Lisa was the sole instructor, working mainly with a small group of young families, most of whom were friends from Lisa’s childhood. Each year, the company expanded, and the KidSwim staff, hand picked and trained by Lisa has developed a strong loyal following.  Many of the instructors have been with the company for over five years. KidSwim now services the greater Los Angeles area, the San Fernando Valley areas, the Southbay and Orange County. 

KidSwim believes that a successful business is all about relationships; relationships between the manager and the staff, the staff and the clients, the instructors and the children, the children and the water.  We recognize that our methodology of using the developmental process requires a summer long commitment on the part of the instructor and the family, and in fact, for many instructors and many families, the relationship continues for many summers.  Lisa has maintained relationships with the majority of her clients now for over ten years, watching her young students develop along the way! 

KidSwim understands that in a sense, your swimming instructor; who is coming to your home several times a week for two to three months is for all intents and purposes a temporary family member.  One of our core values is to ‘be the family member that families love.’ This means that our instructors are professional, prompt, reliable, focused and dependable.  In addition, the children should thoroughly enjoy the experience while the lesson is taking place and when the instructor leaves, your children should all be asking when is the instructor coming back.
